Workload
Crypto mining
GPU and CPU time for proof-of-work mining.
What it is
Proof-of-work mining spends GPU or CPU time computing hashes for a blockchain. The first machine to find a valid hash adds the next block.
Whether it covers its cost depends on the coin, the hardware, electricity and the network's difficulty, all of which change. We make no claim about returns.
What we offer today
Nothing yet. Silicon Network does not offer capacity for mining.
Sources
The kinds of source that can run this workload, now or later. No provider is named until it is connected.
- Planned
Silicon Network operators
Independent machines that operators add to the network, today Macs running the Silicon Network engine
- Planned
Decentralized networks
Open networks of independent machines
- Planned
GPU clouds and marketplaces
Companies that rent out GPU machines
Many cloud providers forbid or restrict mining in their terms of service, so only sources whose terms allow it would be listed, and public clouds are not planned for it. On operators' own machines, mining jobs would run through the node agent with outbound network access only. The agent is built and switched off.
Status
Not available yet. Nothing is listed or sold until a source is connected and checked.
